I held an exhibition in my local village hall int eh summer of 2007, which I plan to repeat this year.

I learnt a lot about what joe public will buy. I found that my more creative shots sold a lot less or not at all in comparison to more familiar shots. My start trail shots, although they are my personal pride and joy, didnt sell at all. Not many people liked the milky water effect either. The exhibition also raised questions about acceptable processing methods. I process my photos relativly little, but as far as the some public is concerned its a yes or no answer, yes and you are a cheat, no and you have a wonderful camera.

I had my work in a gallery in the Art district in Denver. It was a great experience to have some work on show. I recommend to try and have work in a gallery just for the experience. Unfortunately there are also many other galleries on Sante Fe Drive so none of my work sold. I spent a lot of money matting and framing the prints myself. Now all the prints are hanging in my house, which I don't mind.

I had a group exhibition last December in Japan. It was self organized and financed. Here's a link about my experience.

I recently had my photos displayed in an exhibition here in Cape Town, my first one! I was crapping myself... they had the images blown up to sizes that I had not bothered with before so I thought there would be problems with resolution and clarity not to mention colours...

It all went off fine though and I managed to sell a few over the week and several over the last month or so :)

Great idea about the framing! Years ago, the hospital that I worked at had gallery-type shows...one long hallway would have paintings or photos displayed for a month. I submitted my work, and one month I was chosen to show my hand-colored photographs. I spent $700 to have all the photos matted and framed, all this to sell one photograph. For $85!

The rest of them still hang in my home. :)

I've been trying to get myself a gallery show, but I keep putting off getting the actual prints printed and framed. This article was motivation. Thanks.

This site has a chart on printing based on MP. 8.3 should get you a 8 1/2 X 11 print

I like the playful ideas on framing, I wouldn't have thought about doing the frames myself.

Question though- where should I go for gallery quality larger prints from digital? Also, know a good guide about how large I can print an image given my #MP (8.3 in this case)?
