Tell me about photo blogs
Are you a photographer occasionally writing about photography? Post a comment.
Do you have your own photography blog? Post a comment.
Do you know of a site who runs DIY projects that sometimes are about photography? Post a comment.
Do you have a website which has some original angle on anything? Post a comment.
Do you run a page which has nothing to do with anything I’d be remotely interested in? Post a comment anyway.
See a pattern yet? Exactly - I’m very curious to find out more about what makes my readers tick - and of course, I’m looking for new sources from where I can pilfer ideas for interesting articles for Photocritic.
Too shy to post a comment in public? Send me an email instead - get your submissions in to hajejan@photocritic.org!
You can even send press releases, if you are a company, but if they are crap, prepare to be ridiculed.

Well, I do have some photo related stuff, but I do not feature my gallery or albums promenently on my site.
I did post about some DIY and frugal photography a little while back wherein Photocritic.org was added in the comments. I link to several sites with some good info.
Also, there is a little post on how to get the most out of your consumer digital camera.

Well, I’m not shy. :-) I have a photo blog (see above), and I’ve enjoyed this site and have gotten several ideas of things that I want to try.
#3 - April 7th, 2006 at 16:02
I don’t have any DIY tutorials, and I’m not sure if it’s an original angle (or any kind of angle), but I’ve been writing lately on my film-based digital workflow at Treemeat.com.
#4 - April 7th, 2006 at 18:41
I run a blog about my experience with photography as well as some tutorials, info articles and links to cool photography stuff.

As someone who has just started out in photography I wanted a project that would help me learn many of the different techniques used.
I am attempting to take and post a new photo every day the year - at times this has effectiely been a photo blog.
I am achieving what I wanted in that almost every day I am learning something new.

I dabble in photography and photomanipulations (of the fantasy sort). I took my photography portfolio down but I still have stuff at my deviantART site (renilicious.deviantart.com) to view. I love this site. The links are great, the articles are always interesting even if I might not practice the vein of photography they’re about or need the items/systems they’re talking about. DA is also fantastic for photography enthusiasts. Heaps of marvelous galleries there.
#21 - May 10th, 2006 at 19:44
This pages idea different from others. There arent lot of photos there. but photo owners can share theirs emotions when they took or looked this photographs. May be they should have a story about this photograph. I am from Turkey. When I started this page it was turkish but I saw there were different visitors from other countries so I decided to make it in two languages. It is now turkish and english

I’ve got a blog where I occasionally talk of photo stuff (and whatever else comes to mind). http://gmr2048.blogspot.com.
I also share a photo site with a friend. http://www.eighteenpercent.net.
And I’m a Pisces. I like long walks on the beach. And sunsets. My turn-ons are honesty, humor, the ability to weld, big b00biez and good beer. Turn-offs are hairy knuckles, Bud Light, Nascar, and Nikon users ;)

Mine is http://photondetector.com/blog/
It’s a blog about, rather than of, photography, focussed on film, DIY and camera hacking, experimental photography, and digital as it relates to film (nothing against digital, but there are better places with full time staff to go for that).
Others I like:

Mostly I just post the results of my photography with some commentary about how I arrived at them. Sometimes public musings regarding creative insights or (more often) lack thereof. Hopefully soon, some tips for escaping that malaise.

The site also has a free gallery and equipment reviews as well as a growing community. Take a look around it :-)

I would like to let you know about a new photography website concept that we have built. http://www.photozook.com is a photo review site with a twist.
The site is currently in beta form.
The site is for photographers to show off their work and get constructive comments on their work. This is not a photo sharing or storage site, but there is no limit as to the number of images a photographer may upload for comments or voting, although we envision photographers uploading no more than 10-20 images per week.
The main goal of the site is for photographers to post an image to the site either by uploading or linking from their own site. This image is then put in the photo queue were people can vote on the image if they like it. Once a photo get’s enough votes, it is automatically promoted to the front page of the site.
A vote means you like the image, a non-vote means you are not fond of the image. We tried to make it as simple as possible.
Users can also leave comments on the photo as well.
The site is completely free and is open to anyone who wants to upload images.
To upload or comment, you need to log in. Registration takes all of about 10 seconds and requires a username, email and password.
So, if you have a couple spare moments, please stop by and check it out.
I also would like to hear what you think about the concept as well as the functionality.
http://www.photozook.com
A couple notes:
1. The look and feel is temporary. It is being changed.
2. Once we get the main functionality working as expected, we will be adding additional features.
3. If you have any issues or problems uploading or linking to your image, please let me know.

My photography blog is aptly named: “F8andBeThere”. I once read that in a photo magazine when I started photography in 1991.
I also thought it appropriate because it’s also the fixed focal length of my 600mm mirror lens :)
My main website has a gallery with a slew of images, ranging from portraits to landscape to street photography to abstract and obscure.
I also list some basic photo tips; my photography credits; my gear; photographers who inspire me; and some personal background.
See my website for links to my blog and a WAP version of my site.

My primary blog (see above) has some photography related content and a now short-lived picture-a-day portion. The photoblogging will continue at some point at a different location (when time permits to install). More photography related content will probably appear once I find time to redesign the site and get the daily photoblogging going again.
My wife and I also publish a daily photoblog of our dogs, The Life of Jalo at http://fierymill.net/loj/.

Hi
I’ve just come agross this site:
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~zhuxj/astro/html/stfc.html
The author describes taking multiple (time lapse) photographs of the night sky in a city with lots of light pollution. A 20s exposure is about as long as he can go without washing out the photo. He then describes how he merged these photos (using a “max” operation) to create star trails over the city. Would love to know how to do that in more detail.
Cool.

Hello, me again.
I’ve just built (carved is probably a better word) a dummy NB-2L battery to act as a Canon ac adapter for my old S45 or S80. I couldn’t afford the official ACK700 adapter and didn’t want to sacrifice my battery which still has some life left in it.
So I just used simple hand tools (saw, chisel, craft knife (aka box cutter)) to cut out a piece of wood the same shape as the battery, take apart an unneeded computer power socket for the electrical contacts, cut & nailed the contacts in place (there was a convenient hole) and soldered a cable & DC power socket onto them. I had a multi-voltage regulated ac adapter which I simply set to 7.5V, same as the batteries nominal voltage, and plugged it in.
Works great.
I set my computer up last night to take time lapse photos of the dawn out of my window and it worked fine.
The “T” terminal in the centre is not connected so not needed. It is probably a thermistor to monitor battery temperature when charging so is probably not needed or even sensed by the camera.
Am happy for this hack to be featured on this website or wherever.
I don’t have a website or blog but have posted 3 photos on flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/44775325@N00/sets/72157594311758269/
hope that works.

I would daily go to the Londondailyphoto blog and marvel at the photos and the write-ups. I email Ham and told him I was waiting to take a photography course. He told me to “just do it” and learn on the way. I have had so much fun and it like most hobbies, the more you do the more you want to learn.

What started out as a gallery offering online viewing of photos created from the eyes of the homeless has been getting comments that there might be more to it than just snapshots. Simple idea. Gave cameras to the homeless. Published the results. Any professional opinions welcomed.

Hello there,
I have a new website (www.digitalimagination.eu) with only few blog entrances (in German for now, but that can change), and a gallery. It would be really great if you could give me a little feedback, all kinds of critique is welcome!
And I love this site, I am absolutely amazed at how often Haje manages to write articles, which are really enjoyable to read!

I have a photoblog called Fotoviva which is an accompaniment to my main site which sells mine and other photographers work through an online store. I find blogging hard as I’m not a blabber mouth hence it doesn’t come easily - but it needs to be done! It includes news about Fotoviva with new image uploads and also tips for better photography and Photoshop news. It’s coming together slowly but surely :-)

A couple of months ago, I read your article about Smoke photography, and was so impressed that I started experimenting with it myself.. After discovering some recognisable shapes in my smoke trails, I kind of continued my work process after the tutorial ended and came up with many interesting shapes.. for instance: Queen of Hearts, Kissing Twins, Magician holding a crystal ball, dancing woman, predator-like alien, etc. Have a look at my blog and gallery to see some of these images and some information on how I did them.. Let me know if you want to use some pics for a follow-up on the successful smoke - how-to article!

I just found this site through Scott Kelby’s blog and have enjoyed digging around a little.
I run a photoblog (it’s only been a photoblog for about two weeks) at kendallball.com and while it’s only photos right now, I plan to develop into small articles about using photography as a means of social change, advocacy and so on.
Keep up the good work,

Hi hope you find this interesting. The thing is doing photography in a different way that you are use to do it but instead using a digital of film camera, use a flatbed scanner, yes, as it sounds a flatbed scanner, I wrote a little article about it here http://www.jpgmag.com/stories/1564, and here I have a set of photos in my flickr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/raypg/sets/72157602155279480/ I hope you enjoy it and find this very interesting.
Cheers :D
